Mezzanine floor in Wiltshire
We were sub contracted to design, supply and install two mezzanine floors into this farm complex in Wiltshire.
We installed the following;
Mezzanine Floor 1
A 106.5m2 mezzanine floor – overall size of the floor was 10,960mm long x 9,720mm wide with a finished floor height of 2,500mm to match their existing mezzanine floor. All the exposed edges had tube & ball construction hand & knee rail. We also installed an ‘up & over’ pallet gate to enable 1200mm wide pallet access complete with chequer floor protection plate.
Mezzanine Floor 2
A 116.9m2 mezzanine floor – overall size of the mezzanine floor was 12,050mm long x 9,707mm wide with a finished floor height of 2,500mm. This install was complete with an all steel construction single flight staircase 1mtr wide with 4.5mm thick chequer plate treads and tube & ball construction hand & knee rail to all exposed edges (Part K compliant). We also installed another ‘up & over’ pallet gate to enable 1200mm wide pallet access complete with chequer floor protection plate.
*A special requirement of the 2nd mezzanine floor was that it had to be cut around their cold store fridge so they could access it as normal.
On top of the mezzanine floors would be where they stored their stock for the farm shop. We installed 30 bays of longspan shelving, each bay was 1,980mm high x 1,840mm wide x 620mm deep with four 18mm chipboard shelf levels to achieve a loading of 400kg per level.
We also worked on the clients behalf with the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) to ensure that this project had full building regulations approval.
